I can record the same program again using SageTV if it is on again, and then the new recording of the same program will be compliant with Nero.

When this is the case, Nero forces a recode, which takes forever. Too often, however, it tells me that it will take twice that much space on the dvd even though it is still an hour long program and the file is the same size. When it is recognized properly, Nero indicates it will take approx 1.3 gb on the dvd if it is an hour long program.

Usually when I record a tv program, it is recognized by Nero as fast encode compliant, which means it does not have to be reencoded by nero when it makes the dvd video. These edited files play fine, that is the audio and video are in sync, using any mpeg player on my pc, but when I run them through Nero to make a dvd, even though are now compliant and are not recoded, the audio and video sync is lost. To get them to be recognized as compliant files, I edit them a bit using VideoReDo. This is very frustrating because these files have to be recoded by Nero to make a DVD, and this can take an hour or so rather than the ten minutes it shoud take if it wasn't recoding Still, they have to be corrupted in some way. They are still recognized as Mpeg files and they play fine using Sage to play them back. There is no rhyme or reason, that is to say, that I can figure out, why some recordings are treated this way. On top of that, these odd recordings are not recognized as compliant with Nero SmartEncoding, which does not recode compliant files.

Oddly, when I use Nero Vision Express to create a dvd of these recordings, some recordings take up twice the space they should in the create dvd window even though they are still 1.53gb files, like the others. I record all my tv programs using Sage TV DVD Extra Long Play quality mode, and the file size for an an hour long tv recording is 1.53 gb.
